Flowers are among my favorite wedding details, they really can make or break a style and aesthetic, and while I a may be biased I am not alone in the draw to creative floral work. This draw makes the floral feature in every issue one of my favorites to blog! Today I am pulling from the pages a bouquet created by Starlie Squires of Blooms & Branches.
When I was invited to design this bouquet, I did what I always do and thought in terms of the client I am designing for. My clients are always the inspiration behind my work. Since this bouquet was specifically designed for this editorial, I became the client. I asked myself, “if I were to receive this bouquet on my wedding day, what would I want?” That was my question and the finished design became my answer. I love the touchable textures and the rich colors. I like to combine the unexpected in my designs. The deep colored berries, artichoke and smoke bush add color, interest and texture to this bouquet. The orchids are unexpected but they belong, adding a touch of the elegant. Although I love the beauty of silk ribbon, I had my heart set on something different. I wanted a macrame bouquet wrap for this one. Shelby at Bonfire Heart and I collaborated on what that should look like and I felt it was the perfect finishing touch. I love working with my clients and my goal is to interpret their special love story with the language of flowers.
