There’s something magical about the first snowfall in the mountains – the leaves turn with one last formal nod to an amazing summer spent outside, the crisp air breathes excitement of a changing landscape, a light dusting of snow brings anticipation for the winter ahead. Mairin and Brian live for these moments, and although currently Californians, fully embraced that first snowfall during their engagement shoot a few weekends ago in Park City. The snow brought back nostalgia of their childhood during an impromptu snowball fight, added a dramatic backdrop on Guardsman Pass, and provided a day full of laughter.
Mairin and Brian grew up in the mountains, she in Park City and he in Boulder, Colorado.Yet, it took them many moves across the States and abroad before they met in San Francisco, California decades later. Both working in quintessential tech jobs in Silicon Valley, they happened to fall into the same circle of friends and realized there was something more between them one Halloween night, while he was dressed as a Franzia wine box and she as a farmer. Their relationship was built off of nights like that – laughter, love and never taking life too seriously.
Over the years they traveled to places both near and far, yet always found themselves on the beaches of Block Island, Rhode Island where Mairin and her family called home during the summers since she was 14. This past summer, as they strolled a deserted Sea Glass Beach looking for weathered glass, Brian dropped down on one knee and proposed. It was raining, he was nervous, Mairin was laughing – and as she said yes, standing in the rain completely soaked, their relationship came back to that Halloween night and a promise to fill the rest of their days with laughter, love and never taking life too seriously.
