Kayla + Mike celebrated their anniversary by hiring Camilla Binks to shoot a session for them! They shared a bit of their love story with us and some advice too!
We are from the same area, so we’d see each other occasionally at different events in our community. I had the biggest crush on him for a while, but genuinely didn’t know him that well so I didn’t think I even had a chance. After he started attending my church, we hung out a few times with mutual friends and started texting (I know, nobody texts anymore, that makes us sound so old). When he asked me on a date a few months later, I was so ecstatic. Turns out he really is as great as I thought he was. We dated for two years before he proposed on a picnic at the park. I was super hungry and just wanted to eat my food, so he had the hardest time trying to get me to stand up (so he could kneel to propose). Of course as soon as he proposed I couldn’t eat a thing!
-What advice would you give to future brides about marriage?
I know you hear it all the time, but “Communication really is key”. Early in our marriage my husband and I agreed to never go to bed angry with each other, and it’s the best thing we’ve ever done. Also since having our first baby, he’s made a conscious effort to still plan date nights, and I’m so grateful. He’s a keeper.
